Simon Says

When the gay community comes to this website. What is it that they will find of interest? It's sort of like the age old question, who am I? You have to find out, who is asking. I owned and operated a gay bar here in Newport for two years. It gave me a pretty good look at the local community, both gay and and no so. The vast majority of "Islanders" as we call ourselves, were supportive and encouraging. For those two years the gay community had a PLACE. For better, for worse it was a gay domain. Where one could go and feel totally comfortable as an openly gay person. For some, hopefully most. It was an empowering experience. Especially for the young locals, who came at night to hang out listen to music, play pool and darts or sit outside in the garden patio. For some it was the "GAY SCENE" and they are "not into it" For a lot of guys the alternative is to sit home in front of their computer and be into the cyber "gay scene". No matter how you look at it, it comes down to, life is relationship. So the goal of this website is to form relationship, both to the community, (the people) and to the area, the natural and man made beauty which makes Newport and the Island a uniquely wonderful and enchanting place. As we go forward in 2008, I feel it is important for the website visitors to know that this is a gay owned and operated website. The Advertisers on the website have made the commitment to form a relationship with our community. We are not a big ad agency hitting on the gay market. We are a door to door, neighbor to neighbor local business. The website is a welcome mat from community to community. It is here to offer a place to form relationship. So when you, the reader are looking at visiting us, you will know that our door is open. The best part of owning the bar, Castaways On Solar Winds, was being able to open the door. Our wish is to see the gay community, get out! Walk the beaches and waterfront. Visit the Mansions, the shops, the vineyards, the historical places, the restaurants. Watch the boats go by in the harbor. Discover community, form relationships and enjoy. True You won't find a gay bar. Not Yet. But you will find warm & friendly people who by advertising are saying yes to being inclusive.

Thank you for your visit.

Peace & Prosperity,
Newport Out
