Ballard Park is a thirteen acre nature preserve located in the southern end of Newport. It has little over one mile of trails that take hikers through a woodland forest, by a vernal pond and into a meadow where 19,000 daffodil bulbs bloom each April. Friends of Ballard Park hosts monthly hikes, educational field trips for children, summer concerts and outdoor movie screenings and other special events like the Annual Illuminated Garden each February.
